Calling all friends of the endangered northern West Virginia flying squirrel! The squirrels need our help to restore their habitat—which means planting red spruce trees (the only source of a fungus the flying squirrels feed on). The Gesundheit! Institute, in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy, invites you to three days of tree planting in the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge in West Virginia. Commune with nature, learn some wilderness stewardship, and bask in peace-loving camaraderie!

“I read something last year in Nature Conservancy that the West Virginia Northern Flying Squirrel was on the endangered species list. There was a call for people to plant trees–red spruce–to replace lost forests of red spruce trees.

I thought how, I really wanted to be part of hands on help with our environment and here it was in our backyard. So I contacted them.

Lets go planting with me!”
