How to Host a Fun-raiser

If you have seen Patch Adams the movie or heard Patch Adams in person, you may have been inspired to ask "How can I help?" —Beautiful question! One way you can lend a hand in building the dream of health care based on fun and friendship is to host a Fun-raiser. A fun-raiser is simply an event in which you think of something fun to do, invite friends, say a few words about the campaign to build the Patch Adams Teaching Center and Clinic, take up a collection to send in, and enjoy!

A fun-raiser can be fanciful or plain, large or small, a costume tea party, a marathon midnight reading of Chekhov stories, a barbecue cook-off, twister tournament, fish fry with live band, candlelight milonga, house concert, poetry slam, blood drive, pet show, silent auction with mimes, raucous auction with professional caller, salsa mixer, quilting bee, wine tasting, pie joust, tricycle race, bike repair, creek clean-up, blueberry pancake breakfast, Friday night downtown scavenger hunt ... with small entrance fee, sliding scale, $1000-a-plate, pass-the-hat ...

... and even the invitations can be fun: collage postcard, get on the agenda of your next union meeting, mysterious poster, a personal note attached to a gift of homemade baklava
invitation mist
text-messaging at sunrise
in form of haiku ...

Afterwards you can send what you've raised to:
Gesundheit! Institute
P.O. Box 50104
Arlington, VA 22205 USA.
(Checks payable to Gesundheit! Institute. Gesundheit is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization.)

Email a story about your fun-raiser to giving@patchadams.org

... and know that you and your friends will be part of transforming health care through the power of a positive model!
