Our Mission
The Gesundheit! Institute is a project in holistic medical care based on the belief that one cannot separate the health of the individual from the health of the family, the community, the world, and the health care system itself.
About Patch Adams
Patch Adams is best known for his work as a medical doctor and a clown, and he is also a social activist who has devoted 30 years to changing America's health care system. He believes that laughter, joy and creativity are an integral part of the healing process.
About Gesundheit!
The institute began as a group of twenty friends, including three doctors, who moved into a six-bedroom home and called it a free hospital. The hospital was open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week for all manner of medical problems from birth to death.

Workshop with the instructors of the School for Designing a Society—Susan Parenti, Danielle Chynoweth, Rob Scott, Mark Enslin; Ginevra Sanguigno; Patrizia Mainardi; and Robert Naiman of Just Foreign Policy. Coordination and organization: Clown One Italia, Patrizia Mainardi, Cristina Finotti, Dario Solina.(Patch will not participate in this workshop).
The workshop Desire & Design invites participants to work on their desires and look for links between composition and social change (where composition is taken to mean broadly putting things together that have never before been put together ... in such a way that together they do something they wouldn't do apart).
Language, desire and imagination are the tools that we use to shape our lives and through which we can enact change.
During this workshop we will address language: how we speak and how language speaks us. We will try out new learning formats, with emphasis on performance: having an intent and choosing, from alternatives, a preferred way of presenting that intent. The School emphasizes performance not only in the sense of practicing music, movement, speech, the "Performing Arts", but also in the sense of daily performance, the performance of social roles, the performance of our identities.
Through performances, presentations (of self), videos, and moments of created eloquence we will address such topics as: (anti)communication, language, sustainable economy, permaculture, resistance.
